new exhaust coming

Well after lots if pondering and fiddling and realising that the current exhaust is too low and that my umpteen attempts to quieten the beast Ive succumbed to ordering an rc30 style, let hand side system, the only one I could find was from Sandy Bike Spares...lets wait and see, hopefully from a few photos it looks tighter against the oilpan.....not 3 inches!...if only I had done this months back but I'm trying to keep the costs from spiraling out of control. Atleast I will know that it will pass scutineering but will it effect my jetting...

Fairing underside cut down, a sump catch pan will fit above the exhaust and under the sump......

99% but!

99% complete!..............apart from the bottom fairing..........too low, may have to rethink how to create a oil tray, the exhaust is too low making the lower fairing too low

not a comfy seat

The wife tries the seat out

getting closer to the end!

Forks on, yokes, tightened up, fairing re-fit.....cablke tied a few things to avoid the yokes hitting the oil cooler hoses, have to tweak the front brake master cyclinder bracket as when I originally lined things up it I hadnt taken into account it was the wrong one and slightly taller in the process. getting near to a shake down...tyres next!.....trying to source spare wheels but may have to wait, no rush at the mo.

new springs

forks taken apart, quite unnerving to start with as I've never done this before. After reading various ways of doing it and faffing for a day, found the easiest wayby trial and error..... once i realised that the forks were 954 forks not 929 as the breakers had sold me( well done to them another mistake from them, forgetting that the also sold me 1/2 port older fireblade front brake master cylinder so had rush out 40miles to another breakers in Godstone who luckily had the 3/4 port 929/954). So watch what one buys online or phone because you really need to go and look at these parts to make sure there right). The 954 forks are different to 929, they look the same exceplt the end caps and preload bits are different, the springs are longer on the 954 by about 25mm...the fluid levels are also different............by 17mm....

So first up cleaned the forks, rinsed them through with parafin then break/carb cleaner. Made a tool( aluminum 4mmplate with a 10mm slot) to slip under a nut(hidden behind the white plastic spacer) which holds the spring down while the compression black nut is wound off so the end cap pops off, then take the tool out which then the spring can come out.

Then bung fill the tube with oil.....which takes a long time, pull the damper rod up and down to expell air, let the oil settle, measure the level, add a bit more until its the required amount. Hyperpro oil 107mm from the stantion top..( 929 forks differs, manual sais 90mm, hyperpro 120mm). I made some spacers because I had the 929 springs not 954, then had to work out my oil level)

Installed my newly acquired rear caliper...stripped and cleaned with new seals, routing will follow the line above but fixed onto the chain guard when ive cleaned it. Sprocket attached but not shown, Its 45 teeth a will get another possibly 46/47. The front is already 2 teeth less from standard but this are just from memory when I used the cbr ( 2 down from front and 2 more at the rear...for brands indy and mallory....... ive bought a single rear paddock stand...on ebay from a German company...cheaper to buy and post over and it came within 4 days.

noisy beast

well videod it but the sound quality is poor, sounds tinny which it isnt. ive borrowed a proper noise meter so will give it a test tomorrow. My decibal killer will probably effect the running as it may create too much back pressure, so I think at some point I will need a different end can with more volume to lower the amplification, the carbon can is doing what the TLR did to it...ie the exhaust pulses make it expand and contract....
